Houston Filmmaker
Karen Aptekar
Wins 4 Telly Awards
(The 30th Annual Telly Awards)
Houston Filmmaker Karen Aptekar is proud to show us
the four "Telly's" that were given to her from the 2009
30th Annual Telly Awards for her award winning 13-minute documentary
film "Saving Evan White" in the categories of Use of
Music, Low Budget and Charitable/Not for Profit and Social Issues.
Ms. Aptekar created the film to put a face on the
problem of medically frail young adults who “age out” of
Pediatric Medicaid upon turning 21. The three-minute advocacy
version was and is being distributed to Texas State Representatives
and Senators as part of the effort to pass SB2241.
The documentary short also received a Bronze Remi
Award at the 2009 42nd WorldFest-Houston Independent International
Film Festival in the category of "Social/Economic Issues"
in April 2009 and was premiered at SXSW Reel Women’s Showcase in
Austin.
Karen continues to submit the documentary to
festivals worldwide. For more information about Karen’s project go
