From Ms. Laura Schlecht, Houston Producer of the 48-Hour Film Project:

Greetings Houston Short Filmophiles!!

We have lots of important information for you.  First up, it's that time of the year again...

That's right everyone, dust off your cameras and round up your friends because the 48 Hour Film Project is back in Houston for the 2009 tour.  Join us June 5th-7th, 2009 for a frenzied weekend of film making fun.  A few days later watch the films on the big screen at Studio Movie Grill City Centre  http://www.studiomoviegrill.com/townandcountry.html on Wednesday/Thursday June 10th & 11th.

Registration is currently open.  Sign your team up today at: www.48HourFilm.com/Houston

Register by Monday, May 11th to get the early bird price of $135/team.  After that the fee jumps up to the normal rate of $155/team.  Slots are limited so don't wait too long.

The team who wins "Best Film" will have their film screened along with the other 80 city winners at Filmapalooza 2010 at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) conference in Las Vegas.  It will be open to all filmmakers to attend, not just the winners.  So, we hope to see you there.

In addition to being screened in Las Vegas, the city winner will also receive a super-dooper really cool trophy at the international awards ceremony and Movie Magic Screenwriter software ($249 value).  And if chosen as the International Best Film of 2009, the winner will receive a Panasonic HPX170 camera ($5695 value) and $3000 cash.

But wait, that's not all.  A selection of top city winners will be included in the Best of 2009 DVD.  Congratulations to Houston's own Sweet Baby Jesus for their film Rushin' making the cut for 2008.  Also 48HFP will be heading back to Cannes in 2010 and taking 10 of the best films with them.  And Panasonic will be sponsoring the HD Showdown giving the top 5 US city winners another opportunity to win a great camera.

To help you out with your busy weekend, we've partnered with Rumblefish again this year.  Filmmakers will be able to purchase the rights to and download music for use in their 48HFP film for the hugely discounted rate of $25/song.

I hope you're as excited as I am about this year's project.  I can't wait to see what everyone creates this time.  Start assembling your team and gear because the countdown's begun...
